Joanna Crilly EC 'M'
Joanna Crilly, Canadian Medium and U.S. “R” judge as well as Level 2 coach began riding lessons in Ghana, West Africa, in 1960. The road to dressage took many turns through polo and flat racing as well as eventing. Joanna finally came to the sport of dressage with keen enthusiasm in 1979 while training riding instructors in Malaysia. Good training was the cornerstone of rehabilitation for all the ex-racehorses that landed in the riding school. Since returning to Canada in 1981, Joanna has pursued her own education in order to benefit the riders she teaches, the horses she trains as well as to obtain her dressage judging license. At present, Joanna co-owns Kars Riding School Inc. near Ottawa where she and business partner, Joan Johnston train riders from beginner to advanced on the school’s group of well trained horses. Joanna has competed on the Ontario Provincial and National circuits up to Prix St. Georges and trained horses and riders to Intermediaire1 as well as judging across Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and Bermuda. Freestyles are a speciality of the Kars riders and Joanna, also a musician, has conducted clinics on this topic in many parts of Canada as well as Bermuda. Joanna Crilly, Joan Johnston and Irene Greenberg are the founders of the Lauren DiIanni Memorial Prize for freestyles, the only Dressage Canada national cash award for freestyle performance.

Alyette Jacques
I live in St-Constant, Quebec, in an old cottage (circa 1818), surrounded by my horse, pony, dog and two cats. I have been involved with horses since childhood (helping my father show his Canadian horses at the fair), and have participated in three-day eventing, fox hunting and dressage events. Enroling in clinics and riding with my instructor led me to become an Equine Canada Steward. I presently work as a receptionist in a large law firm in Montreal, and spend most of my spare time riding my Trakerner mare.
