Judges
Trond Asmyr
Trond has been a judge for some 30 years, becoming an FEI ”I” Judge about fifteen years ago. He is living in Oslo, Norway. The judging has brought him around Europe, Asia, Africa and America. The FEI has trusted him many times to judge their Challenge Tour, which includes countries not normally having international shows. Instead of bringing the horses and riders to one showground, the judges travel to the various countries. In addition he judges numerous CDI’s, CDIOs, and CDI-Ws and selections every year (final US selection to WEG 2002, final US selection to WC Final 2005), including the European Championships for Young Riders. Unfortunately, Trond had to give up his own riding some years ago, due to lack of time. Trond is Vice Chairman of the Board of the Norwegian Equestrian Federation and also member of the judges’ committee. When not busy in the equestrian world, he works for Sabra Tours, a local Norwegian tour operator.
Joanna Crilly EC 'M'
Joanna Crilly, Canadian Medium and U.S. “R” judge as well as Level 2 coach began riding lessons in Ghana, West Africa, in 1960. The road to dressage took many turns through polo and flat racing as well as eventing. Joanna finally came to the sport of dressage with keen enthusiasm in 1979 while training riding instructors in Malaysia. Good training was the cornerstone of rehabilitation for all the ex-racehorses that landed in the riding school. Since returning to Canada in 1981, Joanna has pursued her own education in order to benefit the riders she teaches, the horses she trains as well as to obtain her dressage judging license. At present, Joanna co-owns Kars Riding School Inc. near Ottawa where she and business partner, Joan Johnston train riders from beginner to advanced on the school’s group of well trained horses. Joanna has competed on the Ontario Provincial and National circuits up to Prix St. Georges and trained horses and riders to Intermediaire1 as well as judging across Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and Bermuda. Freestyles are a speciality of the Kars riders and Joanna, also a musician, has conducted clinics on this topic in many parts of Canada as well as Bermuda. Joanna Crilly, Joan Johnston and Irene Greenberg are the founders of the Lauren DiIanni Memorial Prize for freestyles, the only Dressage Canada national cash award for freestyle performance.
